Casey Jones Railroad Museum Blues Music Trail
Casey Jones died in 1900 when the railroad engineer’s train, the Cannonball, collided with a stalled freight train. He was credited with saving many lives by staying on the train with his hand pulling the brake. He was immortalized in song by many artists including bluesmen Furry Lewis and John Hurt.
The Water Valley Lions Club is preserving the city’s rich railroad history by restoring the Water Valley Depot and providing a place for the railroad museum. The restoration is a continuing project with many volunteer hours and donations.
